Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfill and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers receive their items on time. As an Area Manager, you’ll ensure your site runs smoothly to meet customer demand. You will lead a team that maintains our operations safely, efficiently, and at a high quality, while taking on various projects across our network to drive productivity.

Our AGL team breathes life into new ideas and incubates them until they mature into sophisticated businesses. We operate with the energy of an exciting start-up, as our team works on Amazon’s next big project, under the umbrella of one of the world’s largest companies.

We support new areas of the business, such as Amazon Fresh stores and our online grocery service. There are numerous opportunities for various skill sets, from operations to supply chain to data management.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing.
  2. Analyze and implement changes to maintain consistently high quality and productivity.
  3. Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimize productivity, and enhance quality of service for customers within your area of responsibility.
  4. Analyze shift performance against relevant business objectives and implement actions to improve operational excellence.
  5. Work collaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardize shift practices.
A Day in the Life

You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites, ensuring maximum productivity. Your main focus will be to foster a culture of safety and uphold quality and shift performance standards. You’ll oversee process improvements within your area and drive their implementation. A typical day is varied, including routine team management, daily operational responsibilities, process improvement, and large-scale operational contingency tasks. You’ll also serve as a role model and mentor to new managers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  1. A degree.
  2. Relevant experience in people management.
  3. Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
  4. Experience using data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
  5. Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Ideally degree qualified in Engineering or a Supply Chain/Logistics/Manufacturing related discipline or an MBA graduate.
  2. Evidence of leadership skills, such as being president of a sporting or social club at university or leading charity work or group projects.
  3. Previous work experience in an operations or customer-facing environment.
  4. Ability to speak and write another European language, particularly Spanish, French, or German, is an advantage.
  5. Personal drive and enthusiasm that distinguishes you from others!
